'In My Dreams' - Rezzalp CD review

'In My Dreams' - Rezzalp CD review

This album by Rezzalp, a 4 piece featuring all 4 Plazzer Sisters (Bridget, Helena, Maryanne and Suzanne), is a blend of Classical Vocal, Piano and Violin, Jazz, Pop with sections of Techno beats.  It's a very wordy album tells many stories including trying to get the right kind of man.

The opening song 'In My Dreams' is a tale of what is real and what is in the mind.  "In My Dreams the people are real" lends itself to the opposite, to what is unreal.  The lyrics are very visual, you can tell these 4 sisters are very well musically trained.

The two stand out tracks to me are Track 6 'Weary Night' and Track 7 'Overboard'.  Both feature film clips which you can watch from their website.

'Weary Night' stands out on this album as it features just double tracked Banjo and Vocals.  The simplicity is its strength on an otherwise very orchestrated produced album.  The film clip features all 4 sisters and 3 white kittens navigating a maze.

'Overboard' is the obvious single on the album, a pop song with a quirky bridge in 7/4 timing, it is reminiscent of Split Enz and their piano break in 'Six Months In A Leaky Boat'.  The film clip features all 4 sisters on a fishing boat.  I better not tell you more so you watch the film clip.

Overall this is a very interesting 10 track album.  Rezzalp definitely offer something different in a world where a lot of music these days sound the same.
